Attending a Merrie & Bright Modern Calligraphy Workshop is an opportunity for a little you time –
come learn a new craft and create something beautiful.

Classes are designed with plenty of one-to-one instruction and guidance.
Calligraphy pen, nibs, paper, and ink will be provided and can be taken away, so you’ll have everything you need to continue practicing your newly acquired skills in the comfort of your own home.

Beginner’s Workshops

A perfect introduction to the art of hand lettering, you will learn the fundamentals of modern calligraphy using a dip pen and ink. After getting to grips with the tools, we will begin practicing the basics – learning about pressure, how to create beautiful thin and thick strokes, and basic strokes. We will then move on to forming the upper and lower-case alphabets and connecting words.

Improver’s Workshops

Open to those who have previously attend a Merrie & Bright (or other) beginner’s workshop.
We will discuss and practice different ways to build upon your skills to create your own style of lettering.

Private Calligraphy Lessons

As well as regular workshops, I also offer private calligraphy lessons. Teaching on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, these sessions can be tailored to suit your personal interestsand needs. Group lessons are ideal for sophisticated hen parties, creative baby showers, and relaxed corporate team-building.

Bicester, Oxfordshire (Other locations considered with additional travel costs.)

 Price

£120 for two hours (or £75 per person for groups of two or more).
This includes all materials and a calligraphy kit to take home.

Ideal for those who enjoy calligraphy, but rarely find time to practice, these informal, friendly meetups mimic the atmosphere of my workshops and are designed to give you the time and space you need to brush up on your skills, explore your creativity, and refine your craft.

 Open to those who have previously attended a Merrie & Bright Workshop, you’re free to share my calligraphy supplies or bring your own. I’ll be on hand throughout, offering expert guidance and support, and you’ll also be surrounded by like-minded people who love hand lettering just as much as you do.
